Established in 1539, Chester boasts the oldest racecourse still in use in England and in fact it has recently been established that it is the oldest racecourse still in operation in the world! Chester Racecourse is a regular fixture on the social calendar from May to October, where you will not only find top class racing but it is the place to see and be seen.

The racecourse is also home to Chester Polo Club, which was established in 2006 and two tournaments have been played each season since then.
Chester Racecourse is home to two restaurants, the racecourse's on-course pub; The White Horse and 1539 Restaurant and Bar.
The White Horse, which opened in 2014, is a family-friendly gastropub offering a casual dining experience, relaxed service and quality food and drink. The large play area is extremely popular with families.
1539 Restaurant and Bar opened its doors in 2008 and has gained a first-class reputation over the past eleven years. The beautiful glass-fronted restaurant is situated within the County Stand, overlooking the historic Racecourse and is open for events throughout the year.
Venture in to the city and you will find Commonhall St Social on a hidden side street off the main shopping thoroughfare. Serving an interesting drinks selection, including craft beers.
