This autumn Chester Cathedral is set to enthral fans of film and music equally. September will see the grade-listed city landmark host an exciting event featuring the London Concertante called “Music from the Movies”.
The celebrated chamber ensemble will perform live at the cathedral to offer orchestral renditions of some of cinema’s most iconic scores. An immersive experience, the upcoming event is designed to take audience members on an enchanting journey with music evoking imagery of aliens, spies, star ships, war heroes and dinosaurs.
The extensive programme will include musical excerpts sourced from science fiction classics like Spielberg’s ET and Jurassic Park and George Lucas’s Star Wars saga, gangster epics like The Godfather, biographies like Schindler’s List, spy films of the James Bond series and sweeping masterpieces like Out of Africa and The Mission.
Composers honoured on the night will include greats like John Williams, Ennio Morricone, Nino Rota and John Barry, among others.
“Music from the Movies” will now take place at Chester Cathedral on Saturday, September 7. The show will begin at 7.30 pm and run until 9.30 pm; the cathedral is situated on Saint Werburgh Street in Chester.
Tickets for the evening event are priced at £23.46 per person, and seating is unreserved. As a result, guests can access better seats the earlier they arrive. Those attending the show as a large group who wish to sit together are advised to be at the cathedral when doors to the event open to avoid disappointment.
