Chester Zoo has been selected to hold a prestigious event this spring.
The award-winning Cheshire attraction will host the 2025 edition of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) Conservation Education Conference. This year, the theme for the event is Zoo Educators Creating Global Conservation Impact.
It will assemble practitioners and though leaders in conservation from around the world and promises to act as an important platform for attendees to share transformative ideas and innovative approaches
Director of Conservation Education at Chester Zoo, Charlotte Smith, commented:
“We’re looking forward to welcoming some of the world’s leading conservation educators, academics and thought leaders to our conservation zoo, as well as hearing how conservation education practice is developing across Europe.”
Highlights of the conference will include talks from global educators sharing their programmes and research findings and masterclasses that let participants develop new practical skills and actionable strategies they can incorporate in their organisations.
Discussion panels are planned that allow delegates and specialists to contribute to fresh thinking regarding conservation education, and there will be an abundance of networking opportunities for advocates, educators, practitioners and researchers to drive collaboration in the sector.
The conference starts with an icebreaker at the Garret Bar in Storyhouse, and ends with a farewell dinner at the Chester Grosvenor Hotel.
The European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) Conservation Education Conference will run at Chester Zoo from March 17 to March 21. The zoo is just minutes away from the city, in Upton-by-Chester.
