The world’s largest travel recommendation site Tripadvisor recently crowned Chester Zoo as the UK’s best rated attraction of its kind.
Located just beyond the city walls, the 129-acred zoological gardens are currently home to over 500 different species and more than 37,000 animals. After receiving consistently favourable visitor reviews, Chester ranked above other zoos and aquariums, beating strong contenders like London Zoo, Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Edinburgh Zoo, Folly Farm, Colchester Zoo and Telford’s Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World.
A conservation zoo and registered charity, Chester Zoo works tirelessly to help species under threat of extinction both here in the UK and around the world. More than 11,000 reviews on the international travel platform rated the zoo as excellent and showed that it was considered the eighth best site of its type to visit in the whole of Europe.
Chester Zoo’s Chief Executive Officer, Jamie Christon, recently commented on the achievement. He stated that it was a real pleasure for the zoo as the ranking were based on a multitude of authentic reviews, and the top rating was a seal of approval from its visitors, serving as a testament to the dedication, talent, and hard work of Chester’s staff. He added:
“We’re always looking to offer new, exciting and authentic experiences that connect our visitors with the natural world, while also putting a much-needed spotlight on the environmental challenges our planet is facing and highlighting what people can do to tackle them.”
The brand-new rankings issued are based on what amounts to millions of online opinions, reviews and customer recommendations on Tripadvisor.
