The longest-running grassroots venue for live music in Chester is welcoming a top tribute act to its stage.
Autumn will find city night spot Alexander’s Live presenting “Rust for Glory”, a band dedicated to playing authentic versions of songs written by Canadian music icon Neil Young.
Described as the United Kingdom’s premier tribute act for Young, the band has been authentically capturing both the artist’s sound and spirit since 2011. Displaying considerable range, Rust for Glory performs Young’s electrified rock alongside his intimate acoustic numbers.
Those booking tickets for the event will get the opportunity to enjoy timeless tracks, which may include songs such as “Harvest Moon”, “Heart of Gold” and “Rockin’ in the Free World”.
Playing both at home and overseas, the band is led by frontman Alex, a singer and multi-instrumentalist respected for his detailed recreation of Young, which even includes the Canadian icon’s mannerisms. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he ran live streams on social media, performing an hour of classic tracks from Young on banjo, guitar and piano. Today, the channel has amassed hundreds of thousands of views and secured more than 5,000 subscribers.
Rust for Glory will now play a live set at Alexander’s Live on Thursday, 24 September. The show has a start time of 8.30 pm, and the music and comedy venue is in Rufus Court in Chester. The show was originally scheduled for May this year, and any tickets purchased earlier remain valid for the new date. The concert is suitable for ticketholders aged 18 and over.
