Charming Chester wine bar Vin Santo is a coveted gem in the city for fans of fermented grape juice. On specific Wednesdays throughout spring, the cellar venue is presenting a series of tastings that allow the public to entertain their tastebuds while updating the understanding they hold of fine wines.
At an event called “Wines of Chile with Marcelo Pino” on April 29, enthusiasts can encounter wine from Chile’s most awarded winery, Casa Silva. Established in 1892, it has earned a reputation as a leading producer of Chile’s signature red grape, Carménère, and has won numerous international competitions. A Sommelier of renown, Pino collaborates with Casa Silva closely, promoting both in Chile and internationally. Guests can join the tasting for £30 per person.
May 13 will herald the welcome return of Vin Santo’s famous “Wine and Cheese Tasting”. Creating perfect pairings, it combines six stunning wines with six scrumptious cheeses. Early booking is advised as these events are extremely popular and often sell out swiftly.
The last tasting of spring is titled “New World vs Old World” and runs on May 20. The original event lets wine devotees taste a wine developed in its homeland in Europe alongside a label featuring a wine with the same grape variety grown further afield. Eight contrasting pairs of wine are offered in the showcase, complete with an expert assessment of why they differ. A sharing board boasting cheese and charcuterie will be served with the tasting.
Vin Santo Chester can be found at 21 Watergate Street in the heart of the city.
