TV Star to Join Chester Zoos Half Term Celebrations

World-leading education and conservation charity Chester Zoo recently announced that Hamza Yassin, the wildlife camera man and TV presenter, will be participating in its half-term plans. From Saturday, February 17 to Sunday February 25, the zoo will be inviting Chester residents and city visitors to join in it in celebrating the many wonders of wildlife here in the UK.

Yassin became a household name for many in 2022 when he won the coveted glitterball trophy on hit TV show Strictly Come Dancing. Now Tuesday, February 20 will see Yassin give two engaging and informative talks at the zoo. Live in person, the strictly star will share his adventures birdwatching while discussing his first book entitled “Be a Birder – The Joy of Birdwatching and How to Get Started”. The book was published last year by Gaia Octopus Books.

Nicola Buckley, Conservation Education and Engagement Manager for Chester Zoo, commented on the upcoming event:

“We’re excited to be welcoming Hamza Yassin to Chester Zoo for a series of special events. He will be sharing stories of his own birding adventures, while also providing top tips and tricks that help guests identify bird species, understand their behaviour, and get started in their own birdwatching journey.”

The event will be held at the zoo’s brand-new events space, known as The Square, and is included in the price of Zoo admission. Nature lovers will also get a chance to meet Yassin at a special book signing on the day.
