Early November will see the skies ablaze with fireworks over Chester’s iconic racecourse.
Once again, the world’s oldest active horse racing venue will host the Lord Mayor’s Fireworks Extravaganza. An annual spectacle, the epic occasion is a key date on the city’s seasonal events calendar and is designed to offer family-friendly entertainment while raising much-needed funds for local charities based in and around Chester.
Those attending the celebrations will get to witness a mesmerising fireworks display light up the night perfectly, timed to a carefully curated soundtrack for maximum effect. Music featured will be sourced from famous film scores, supplying an experience of cinematic proportions.
With an understanding that younger children sometimes find the big bangs associated with fireworks frightening, the mayor’s event will also feature a quiet junior display which will take place earlier on in the evening.
Along with the fireworks displays, a wide range activities, entertainment and refreshments will be on offer throughout the night. Skilled LED light artists will be at the racecourse to get the crowds going before the show, while a full fairground will operate with rides aimed at everyone from thrill seekers to little ones.
The Lord Mayor’s Fireworks Extravaganza 2024 will be at Chester Racecourse on Saturday, November 2. The racing venue is situated on New Crane Street and children aged four or younger enjoy free access to the event when accompanied by an adult. Gates open at 5 pm and the junior display begin at 6.45 pm, with the main display on at 7.30 pm.
