A Grade II listed building in the heart of the city, the Grosvenor Museum in Chester is a treasure trove of items of antiquity.
The celebrated tourist attraction has now announced it will host a range of different Halloween-themed opportunities designed to appeal to different age groups.
On Tuesday, October 29 and Wednesday, October 30, an activity called Frankenstein’s Museum will haunt the halls of the landmark building. On both days between 10.30 am and 12.30 pm, young people can drop in for free and take part in their own experiment. The free-of-charge experience will let them create a unique creature drawing inspiration from the Mary Shelley character, Doctor Frankenstein’s monster and use “body parts” sourced from the Grosvenor Museum’s collections.
A Children’s Ghost Walk is also planned for October 29. Designed for primary schoolers, the family-friendly tour is designed for fun rather than frights. Those joining the walk can join museum guide Ann Coward at Chester Town Hall’s steps at 5.30 pm and enjoy an hour-and-a-half tour. Advance tickets can be booked at the Grosvenor Museum and Adult tickets are £10, with children aged under two accompanying them enjoying free admission.
The final museum event is free and designed for adults. Entitled “Jump Scares at the Old Time Cinema” it takes place on Wednesday, October 30. Running between 1 pm and 4 pm, its participants can enjoy a handling session with a cinema theme before watching the 1931 film “Frankenstein’s Monster” on the lecture theatre’s big screen with a box of popcorn.
The museum is located at 27 Grosvenor Street in Chester.
