Chester’s Oldest Charity Celebrates Incredible Efforts in 2022

The Chester Bluecoat Charity is the city’s oldest registered charity, and this year, it is celebrating an exceptional achievement.

In just 12 months, it has donated more than £240,000 to multiple good causes throughout the city. The charity has donated more than £120,000 worth of funding to organisations that are dedicated to changing the lives of those in need situated across the city, especially those who provide support to children and those who care for them. The charity also gave funds of up to £110,000 in bursaries for high school pupils based in Chester.

The Chester Bluecoat Charity’s work has also included a donation of £20,000 to Chester Zoo, which has helped create a brand-new programme of education that more than 250 pupils are set to reap the benefits of in the timeframe of a year.

Chair for the grant giving board of the Chester Bluecoat Charity, Tim Mann, commented:

“We are delighted to be the financial supporters of this partnership with Chester Zoo which will allow disadvantaged young people from the area to access opportunities to improve their wellbeing and increase their transferable skills.”

The Chester Bluecoat Charity has also given monetary support to the family-supporting organisation in Chester, KidsBank. It awarded the organisation £15,000 to help it relocate so it could extend the reach of the vital services that it provides to those in need around the city.
