The Live Rooms in Chester is welcoming T’Pau to its stage this autumn. The rock band, famously fronted by powerhouse vocalist Carol Decker, will play a live set designed to take audiences on a nostalgic trip back to the late 1980s.
With a slew of Top 40 hits at home and further successes in Europe and the US, T’Pau launched in 1986. With a name taken from a character in the original Star Trek series, which starred William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy, the band released its debut single, “Heart and Soul”, in 1987.
While the track initially flopped in the UK, it reached number four on the American Billboard chart before later repeating the same feat in the UK Singles Chart. The band enjoyed further success with the ballad “China in Your Hand”, which held the number one spot in the UK for five weeks and was also a major hit across Europe.
While T’Pau parted ways in 1991, the band was re-formed by frontwoman Decker seven years later with an all-new line-up. More recently, Decker appeared in the ITV programme “Hit Me Baby One More Time” and made it to the final round.
Fans buying tickets for the concert will be treated to a setlist packed with classic T’Pau tracks.
The band will perform live at The Live Rooms on Sunday 4 October. The nightclub and independent events venue is based in Homer House on Station Road in Chester, and the gig will get under way at 7 pm.
