Sitting atop the Pepper Street car park in Chester, the Rooftop Social Club offers skyline views of the city, along with food, drinks and entertainment. This Halloween, the venue is once again joining forces with Moonlight Flicks, in association with Storyhouse, to present a selection of much-loved spooky movies.
The films range from family favourites to cult classics and will be shown on a massive outdoor LED screen. Those attending can enjoy the experience with a wealth of street food options and beverages ranging from cocktails to soft drinks.
On Friday 30 October, the programme starts with the colourful Pixar movie “Coco” at 4 pm. Rated PG, the animation takes audiences on a musical journey to the Land of the Dead, a place filled with skeletons and spirits. Later, at 7 pm, “Hocus Pocus” will be shown. A hit for Disney in the ’90s, the movie features a talking cat and a trio of mischievous witches called the Sanderson sisters, played by Kathy Najimy, Sarah Jessica Parker and Bette Midler.
On Halloween itself, the festivities begin with the 1988 Tim Burton film “Beetlejuice” at 4 pm. A gothic comedy caper, the film features Michael Keaton in the titular role and a star-studded cast that includes Winona Ryder, Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis and Catherine O’Hara.
Wrapping up the night at 7 pm, the second showing is Wes Craven’s horror classic “Scream”, which spawned countless sequels and spoofs. The film is suitable only for audience members aged 18 and over and has a running time of 111 minutes.
