Established in 1539, Chester Racecourse is renowned for its status as a historic racing venue, being the oldest running sporting ground of its kind.
This May, Chester Races is welcoming back one of its most popular events, “Roman Day”. Offering a family-friendly day at the races, the Saturday event is loaded with activities for younger racegoers that run alongside a complete race card presenting plenty of action on the track
Roman-themed entertainment on the family day will include archery, birds of prey, bootcamp challenges and a Roman stunt show. Other features for kids include AmaSing, camp curiosity, craft camp, a bungee run, Racing to School, inflatable slides and the Pop-Up Play Village. There will also be a heritage festival running at the event exploring Chester’s Roman past.
The race card begins with the Maiden Fillies’ Stakes as first race at 1.35 pm and ends with the Handicap Stakes at 5.05 pm which has a prize of £15,000 for the winner.
Tickets are available at different prices offering access to various stands and seating areas around the racecourse. Group booking is available that includes a free ticket for the lead booker (when groups include 10 people or more) that grants entry to the Roodee, County Concourse, and Tattersalls enclosures.
Roman Day will now take place at Chester Racecourse on Saturday, May 31. The race venue is based on New Crane Street in Chester, and children aged 17 or under enjoy free admission, including participation for all activities on offer.
