Classic Adventure Film Returns to the Screen in Chester

As part of a major celebration of its 45th anniversary, iconic 80s action film “Raiders of the Lost Ark” is coming back to cinemas this year. As part of the commemorative plans, the adventure will grace the big screen at Storyhouse, and tickets are available to book.

The reissue will feature a lovingly restored edition of the much-loved movie in 4K to optimise both its sound and picture quality. Based on an original story from George Lucas of “Star Wars” fame and Philip Kaufman, Raiders of the Lost Ark was directed by Steven Spielberg and written for the screen by Lawrence Kasdan.

Famously starring Harrison Ford as the bullwhip-armed archaeologist and adventurer, Indiana Jones, the major motion picture won multiple Academy Awards and spawned four successful sequels, a television show and several books and video games. Today, critics consider the movie among the greatest ever made.

Set in 1936, the story pits Jones and his allies against the Nazis in a globetrotting race to secure a find of great significance and mystical power. Along with Ford, the cast includes Karen Allen, Paul Freeman, Denholm Elliott and John Rhys-Davies.

Raiders of the Lost Ark will now be screened at Storyhouse on Friday, September 11 and Saturday, September 12. The rating for the film is 12A, and the cinema can be found within the arts centre on Hunter Street in Chester.

Adult tickets are priced at £8.90 for members and £9.90 for non-members, while admission for under 16s is £5.75 and £6.35 respectively.
