Renowned as Britain’s best-selling guide for beer and pubs alike, the Campaign for Real Ale’s Good Beer Guide is now in its 52nd year and has honoured several Chester venues in its pages.
The latest version of the popular pub guide is available to buy with two different covers, each featuring a famous pub seen in UK television soap operas. These include The Woolpack Inn from Emmerdale and Rovers Return Inn from Coronation Street.
Ash Corbett-Collins, chairman of CAMRA chairman commented:
“The Rovers Return Inn and the Woolpack represent the UK’s love of their local, and to have them featured on the covers for this year’s Guide is very exciting.”
The information supplied in the comprehensive guide is collected and collated by volunteers who give their free time to support CAMRA each year to pick the best pubs in the UK.
The guide surveys over 4,500 of the UK’s best pubs, highlighting 900 of them, and is warmly regarded as the definitive manual for beer drinker’s seeking perfect pints across the nation. The 52nd edition of the guide includes 71 watering holes located in Cheshire, nine of which are based in Chester.
These select venues included The Brewery Tap at 52-54 Lower Bridge Street that serves beers from Chester’s Spitting Feathers Brewery, and the Cavern of the Curious Gnome at 61 Bridge Street Row (above the Paysan wine bar) that specialises in Belgian beers. These include La Chouffe, Duvel and Chimay, which it has on tap.
