Celebrate International Beer and Pizza Day in Chester

October 9 is the official International Beer and Pizza Day, where passionate enjoyers of the popular food and drink options can enjoy some great venues in Chester to choose from.

Back in 2016, the first International Beer and Pizza Day was held, created by Nick Saulino. A website designer by trade, Saulino had a passion for pints and pizza slices and advocated for the classic combo to have its own event.

A family-run Chester restaurant, La Fattoria on Lower Bridge Street has a staggering number of pizzas to pick from. Whether you’re partial to simple classics like a Margherita or Napoli, fast-food favourites like an Americana or Hawaiian or seek an exquisite taste of Italy with a “Quattro Stagioni”, the 28-pizza menu won’t disappoint. As for beers, Italian brewers Birra Moretti and Peroni will supply the suds served alongside your pie.

Based nearby on Bridge Street, Urbano32 serves sourdough pizza freshly baked in a custom clay oven. Its pizzas are creatively named with equally original toppings including “Turn Up the Heat” featuring spicy Sriracha mayonnaise and “Something Blue” boasting gorgonzola and walnuts. It also serves pizzas prepared for vegans. As for beers, it has an extensive list of bottles and cans including Beavertown Neck Oil IPA, Cut Loose Pilsner and alcohol-free Peroni among many others.

Finally, perhaps the most affordable place to celebrate this year is outside the city in the Chester village of Christleton where you’ll find the Ring O’ Bells. This year international Beer and Pizza Day falls on a Wednesday when the country pub offers two-for-one pizza deals. It also has local beer on tap so you can drink by the pint with pride.
