Respected for its “field to fork” approach to dining, The Forge holds two AA Rosettes for culinary excellence. Now, the award-winning restaurant is joining forces with the Grosvenor Museum to offer city visitors an experience that serves a sumptuous meal alongside a slice of Chester’s rich past.
The exclusive event starts at the restaurant with a sit-down lunch. Perfectly prepared by the highly recognised kitchen team, the meal features two set courses and seasonal ingredients. Afterwards, diners will be taken on a brief guided walk down to the Grosvenor Museum by way of the city’s historic Roman Amphitheatre, the largest stone-built structure of its kind in Britain.
While the museum is shut to members of the public, guests will appreciate a guided tour of a new exhibition called “Chester Amphitheatre – An 8,000 Year Story”. The exhibit delves deeply into one of the city’s most important archaeological sites, unearthing its origins, even before the Romans arrived. It highlights finds from the key research excavations at the Amphitheatre undertaken by the former City Council in partnership with English Heritage from 2004 to 2006.
The Lunch at The Forge & Chester Amphitheatre Exhibition Tour will now take place on Monday, June 1. The event gets started from 12.30 pm, and the restaurant is situated on Grosvenor Park Road, within Hotel Indigo. The museum is on Grosvenor Street, and the Chester Roman Amphitheatre is on Little St John Street nearby.
The price of admission is £35 per person, and places are limited.
