Renowned for offering characterful accommodation in Chester, Oddfellows also hosts original events and entertainment. This summer, the boutique hotel is offering visitors and residents of the city a chance to unearth Chester’s historic roots with an experience called “A Viking Feast of Fire, Story & Legend”.
While Chester’s Roman and medieval history are well known to many, the city also has connections to the Vikings. Lasting Norse influences can still be felt in the names of streets and places like St. Olave’s Church, dedicated to Norway’s patron saint, just a short walk away on the same street as the hotel.
The evening event at Oddfellows will take guests back through time to visit an ancient Viking settlement filled with legends and myth, and illuminated by firelight. The immersive experience combines storytelling full of folklore, with a feast featuring professionally prepared food and drink. Inspired by traditional choices, the menu is rustic, rich and designed for sharing to reflect the communal banquets that were a prominent part of Viking culture.
The night is running in collaboration with Chester tour expert Gerald Tattum and his team of Viking specialists. They run city excursions led by guides, authentically costumed as shield maidens and Viking warriors.
A Viking Feast of Fire, Story & Legend will now run at Oddfellows on Thursday, June 18. The event gets started at 7 pm sharp, and the hotel can be found on Lower Bridge Street in Chester.
The price of admission is £75 per person, which includes food, drink and entertainment.
