This coming Sunday, Chester Racecourse will host a returning event for a worthy cause as part of Liverpool John Lennon Airport Family Fun Day.

To help raise much need funds for Chester charity Hospice of the Good Shepherd, the world-famous sports venue is holding a Pantomime Horse Race.

Designed for fun, the race is set to offer quite a spectacle and features 21 colourful costumed characters which include a polar, bear, reindeer and a magical unicorn, among others. Entrants will compete on the Chester Racecourse’s final furlong for the good cause, offering entertainment to all attending the family-friendly event.

The Chester hospice provides tireless palliative care to people in the county and offers support to their families and caregivers. The race is a critical fundraiser for the non-profit organisation and will be under starters order at 1.30 pm.

Alan Knell of the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, commented on the upcoming event:

“The Hospice of the Good Shepherd are delighted to be partnering with Chester Racecourse for our Pantomime Horse Race once again. This unique fundraising event will help the Hospice raise an incredible amount of vital fundraising income and offer a fun race for the racing world to enjoy.”

Last year, the pantomime horse event successfully raised over £12,000 for the Cheshire hospice, with a donkey called BRR IAN taking first place, who will be back on Sunday defending his title.

The Pantomime Horse Race will be followed by a full day of racing, with six different races to see.
