Written by author Anna Kemp with eye-catching illustrations from Sara Ogilvie, “The Worst Princess” is an empowering picture book adored by parents and children alike.
Now, the cheeky tale is set to leap off the page and onto a stage in Chester in spring with a brand-new retelling designed especially for the theatre.
May will see the city’s celebrated cinema, library and theatre Storyhouse welcome the production for two dates in a row. Audiences will get an introduction to feisty Sue (the star of the fantastical fairy tale), her princely rescuer (who is a bit of a twit), and a fire-breathing dragon (Sue’s new best friend).
Presented by Full House Theatre, the show offers family-friendly fun that everyone can enjoy. Highlights of the musical performance include pop anthems to sing along to, side-splitting comedy, skilled puppetry and an awe-inspiring dragon who is larger than life.
The upcoming show is 55 minutes in length and tickets are available at different prices. Standard admission is £14 for adults and £12.50 for children who are one year’s old, while those under 12 months don’t need a ticket. However, Storyhouse members enjoy tickets priced at £12.60 for adults and 11.25 for children. Special group and school rates are also readily accessible by contacting the venue.
The Worst Princess will now be performed live on stage at Storyhouse’s Main Theatre on Monday, May 19 and Tuesday, May 20. The centre for the arts can be found on Hunter Street in Chester.
