Based on Hunter Street in Chester, Storyhouse is renowned for being a centre for the arts in the city.
In summer, the mixed-use cultural building that includes a restaurant library, cinema and theatre joins forces with Grosvenor Park for an exciting programme of entertainment, activities and food and drink experiences, and 2024 is no different. Designed to suit all ages and tastes, the summer calendar promises something for everyone.
For children enjoying the holidays, there are special family arts and crafts sessions in the park and a story-time tepee where the library team will lead little ones in special “Rhymetime” events. There will also be a walkabout theatre experience running from August 12 to August 22 called “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”, letting kids meet characters from the world-famous tale.
Entertainment for older guests and residents of Chester in the Park will include stand-up comedy nights, a murder mystery called “The City of Curses”, classic and recently released film screenings and an Oscar Wilde play “The Importance of being Earnest“, lasting until September 1.
For those keen to get in shape there will also be hour-long mood-boosting exercise and healthy eats at the Yoga Brunch helmed by Emma Garland founder of the good Food Yogi. However, those looking for more hearty plates can enjoy wood-fired pizza slices, street food, ice cream and barbequed brisket between 10 am and 10 pm over the weekends, with frozen cocktails and craft beer to wash it down.
Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre can be found on Grosvenor Park Road in Chester.
