Leading Chester wine bar and merchant Vin Santo has announced it will be paying tribute to sparkling labels from its stock in the run-up to Valentine’s Day. Dubbed “Fizz Tasting at Vin Santo”, the event is a celebration of bubbly and will feature drinks from all over the world, from Cava and English fizz to Champagne.
Vin Santo is an enchanting below-ground-level wine bar established in a crypted cellar in the heart of Chester, dating back around 600 years. Well known to residents and visiting enthusiasts as a one-stop wine shop serving stunning wines, whiskeys and gins across the bar in single measures and by the bottle, it is a hugely historical and popular site in the city.
The medieval crypt’s shelves are filled with fine wines, champagnes and select spirits, offering both residents and visitors a unique venue for tasting. Led by owner Simon and his team, the bar and shop regularly hold special tastings, where they serve wines alongside cheeses, cold deli meats and breads that are perfectly matched to accompany labels.
Wines and spirits selected for sale at Vin Santo range from locally sourced products from award-winning distillers working in and around Cheshire to best-in-class bottles from all over the world, at a range of different prices.
The Fizz Tasting event will take place at Vin Santo on Wednesday, February 7. Admission to the tasting is charged at £30 per person. The wine bar is located at 21 Watergate Street in Chester.
