Multitalented Comedian to Perform in Chester

Celebrated Chester events and arts venue Storyhouse has announced that it will be welcoming renowned UK comic Tim Vine to its stage this summer.

Best known for his role as Timothy Gladstone in the BBC sitcom Not Going Out, and for rattling out one-liners, Vine is now introducing his brand new stand-up show called “BREEEEP!”. Described by the Times newspaper as “supremely silly”, the show will feature wobbly props, joyful songs, ridiculous humour, and an abundance of nonsense for good measure.

A multi-talented comic, Vine is also a writer, actor, and pantomime star. Born in 1967, Vine he has continued to enjoy a successful career since he abandoned his job in an office for the comedy circuit. Between the years 2004 and 2014, the English comedian held a Guinness World Record for telling the most jokes in an hour. To count, each joke had to receive a laugh from the audience to count, and Vine made a total of 499 jokes in the hour.

He has also twice won the Edinburgh Fringe Festival’s award for the best joke, once in 2010 and again in 2014. Many of the comedian’s jokes have also been falsely attributed to the comic legend Tommy Cooper, since their styles are similar.

Vine’s “BREEEEP!” show was originally intended to make its debut at the annual event in Edinburgh, but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tim Vine will now perform live at the Storyhouse on Wednesday, July 19. The venue can be found on Hunter Street in Chester and the show will begin at 7.30 pm.
