The 2024 edition of the Taste Cheshire Food and Drink Awards recently finished the first voting phase successfully. This year saw the public provide a new record of almost 65,000 votes highlighting the region’s passion for food and drink and the support for industry venues based in locales like Chester, Warrington and Alderley Edge.
Organisers of the much-loved awards were thrilled to present a shortlist of finalists which include events venues like Chester Zoo, Hickory’s Smokehouse, Chester Racecourse and the Chester Fields Country Pub & Restaurant; these venues will now proceed to the next challenging stage. This will involve a panel of sector experts acting as mystery customers visiting and dining at finalist establishments to decide who will take the top awards.
In recent editions of the event, there has been an upswing voting for Cheshire’s micropubs. In recognition of this up-and-coming trend and new for 2024, organisers of the awards have added a brand-new category called “Cheshire’s Best Micropub”.
Briony Wilson, Taste Cheshire’s owner, commented:
“It’s amazing to see so many people supporting our local food and drink industry and I for one can’t wait to see who wins. I am thrilled about the new category; it shows the evolving nature of our industry and that small independents still capture the hearts of our locals”.
The Taste Cheshire Food and Drink Awards will hold its grand finale on Wednesday, October 2 at Chester Racecourse. The event will feature an award dinner designed specially to celebrate the impressive achievements of food and drink businesses across the county.
