The much-anticipated opening of Chester Northgate’s Picturehouse Cinema has taken an important step towards completion. Contractors have now resumed the installation of the impressive six-screen cinema, and Picturehouse Cinemas anticipates it will open for film fans in late autumn.
To promote its coming debut in Chester, Picturehouse Cinemas will be launching a special programme of screening for the public. For three months in the run up to the grand opening, the company will be sponsoring three months of free screenings at the brand-new Chester Market. Dubbed the “ChooseDay Fim Club”, the event will see films shown each Tuesday at the venue situated beneath the cinema in the Chester Northgate development site.
Films will begin at 7pm and the programme will begin on Tuesday, August 8. The first film selected will be Chester actor Daniel Craig’s opus as super spy James Bond, Casino Royale. Other pictures coming over the three-month period include classics like Back to the Future, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and Jaws, while children’s films like Paddington and Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit and musicals like Grease and Mamma Mia! will also be shown.
The ChooseDay Film Club screenings will run alongside the recently announced ChooseDay promotion, which will see Chester Market traders offering reductions on food and gift stalls every Tuesday, starting on Tuesday, August 1.
Chester Picturehouse has also launched a Founder Membership programme, which will allow the first 1,000 customers buying a yearly membership to the new cinema to have their names listed on a Founder Members’ Wall inside the building.
