Those in Chester looking for seasonal eating around the city will find an abundance of options on offer throughout December. However, for luxury Christmas dining experience in elegant surrounds, The Chester Grosvenor is well worth considering.
The historic hotel’s celebrated restaurant La Brasserie has pulled out all the stops for the season, with an extensive selection of dining dates and an unparalleled Christmas menu packed with choice.
From December 1 up until December 23, festive lunches will be served in the restaurant between 12 pm and 2.30 pm. From December 4 to December 21, festive dinners will be available. Two and three-course options are offered for both.
Christmas Eve Lunch will be held between 12 pm and 2.30 pm and will feature three courses and, on Boxing Day, dining is available between 12 pm and 8.30 pm.
Champagne Sundays will also run throughout December which feature a three-course meal served with a sparkling glass of Taittinger.
The 2023 Christmas menu has many highlights. Starters include pears with Burt’s blue cheese with pickled walnuts, as well as honey and salmon cured in marmalade with sour cream and caper berries. For mains, diners can tuck into decadent dishes like Winter squash pithivier, truffle mornay, Lincolnshire poacher served with smoked cabbage or Merrifield duck, with barbecued maitake mushroom. Grilled dry aged ribeye is also offered with a wide range of sides and salads.
No festive menu would be complete without dessert. Sticky toffee Christmas pudding with vanilla ice cream and parkin cake with apple and caramelised pastry are just two of the mouth-watering treats listed.
