Chester to Hold Silent Disco Event

Ancient abbey and archaeological treasure Chester Cathedral is teaming up with Silent Discos in Incredible Places for a special event this February. Dubbed 80s Silent Disco in Chester Cathedral, the innovative dance event will allow guests and locals of the city alike to show off their moves while singing along to some of their favourite tracks from the era synonymous with pop, rock and synthesiser sounds.

However, silent discos are designed to be considerate to those who live in their vicinity. Major music festivals like Bonnaroo and Glastonbury are accredited with creating the events. Organisers who sought to keep the party going long into the night while still adhering to noise curfews and avoiding offending nearby residents issued headphones on the door, which receive DJs’ playlists on a closed radio frequency.

The silent disco is back at the cathedral after a sold-out show in 2023 and is returning with a 1980s twist. Those coming down to the dance will be able to tune into three different radio stations playing classic ’80s tracks from the biggest names of the one of the biggest decades ever in pop music.

Chester Cathedral will be illuminated for the evening to take dancers back in time and will feature leading DJs from across the UK. On arrival, each ticket holder will receive a pair of cutting-edge LED headphones to get the party started.

The 80s Silent Sisco at Chester Cathedral will be held on Saturday, February 10 and will start at 6:30pm. Chester Cathedral can be found on St Werburgh Street in Chester.
