Based in former bakery in Cuppin Street, Moules a Go-Go is among Chester’s longest-standing dining options. Since it was set up in 1999, the independent family-owned bistro has earned a reputation for excellence and is a much-loved eatery for the city.
Its owners moved to Chester to benefit from its access to fresh local seafood, and as its name suggests, it specialises in coastal treats like mussels and oysters sourced from an Anglesey farm. However, the eatery offers far more than first-class seafood. It excels at all kinds of cuisine, serving ingenious dishes to vegetarians and vegans as well as locally sourced beef from champion butchers.
What might be little known to residents and visitors to Chester is that Moules a Go-Go also has a special brunch menu designed just for weekends. Catering for a range of tastes, the eatery offers plenty of choice.
Sumptuous savoury plates include toasted brioche buns stuffed with streaky smoked bacon, fried eggs and mushroom with tomato ketchup and brown sauce, or a sourdough toast topped with chestnut mushrooms in rich cream, garlic, and thyme.
For those with a sweet tooth, Brussels waffles are also available with a choice of topping including Nutella and banana, bacon and maple syrup or vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce.
Diners looking to follow the British tradition of a little tipple with their brunch will also find that the eatery has a well-stocked bar with craft ales, gins, and cocktails to accompany their meal.
Weekend brunch is served at Moules a Go-Go on Saturday and Sunday between 11am and 1pm.
