Chester to Pay Tribute to New Wave Rock

For over 30 years, Alexander’s Live has been a hub for comedy and music in Chester. Now the much-loved city venue is hosting a revered tribute band dedicated to the US rock band that was led by Debbie Harry in the 70s and still performs live today, Blondie.

July will see Bootleg Blondie perform a live summer set at Alexander’s Live. With an impressive pedigree, the group is the only tribute act to have played live with two of Blondie’s founding members, bass player and songsmith Gary Valentine and Clem Burke the iconic drummer. Bootleg Blondie have performed at renowned Manhattan music club CBGB, famed for its new wave rock gigs featuring bands like Blondie, The Ramones and Talking Heads. They were also thanked in the liner notes of the 11th studio album from Blondie “Pollinator”.

2019 saw the tribute band celebrate four decades since the release of “Parallel Lines”, Blondie’s 1978 release, joining Clem Burke on two tours using the band name “CBBB” an acronym for Clem Burke and Bootleg Blondie.

The tours enjoyed sold-out shows, rave reviews and radio and press coverage and saw the artist cover almost 5,000 miles performing to more than 7,000 people. They also recorded a brand-new single together to coincide with the shows called “Enigma Soho Au Go Go”.

Bootleg Blondie will now perform in concert at Alexanders Live on Saturday, July 20. The entertainment venue can be found at Rufus Court in Chester and tickets are £17.60 per person.
