Chester BID (Business Improvement District) is uniting the local businesses based on Watergate Street to honour this wonderfully eclectic location in the city.
The event will see the Chester BID team bring together the shopkeepers, traders, artisans, and restaurateurs of Watergate Street for a single day of celebrations. The first ever festival of its kind for the iconic street will see local enterprises set up streetside stalls, while bars and restaurants will make good use of their alfresco areas to serve up a selection of drinks and food.
Turkish shop and eatery Pars Kahve will create a traditional street bazaar selling a selection of gifts and homeware, while Turkish teas and coffees will be served with a modern twist.
Entertainment-wise, there will be live bands playing throughout the day, including the King Brasstards playing New Orleans style jazz. Live music acts will also be playing at acclaimed Vin Santo, a wine bar and shop based in historic crypted cellars dating back to the 13th Century. Run by four friends with a passion for excellent wine, the venue is well-known for its outstanding customer service.
For top food and drink options, revellers can try Greek/Mediterranean restaurant Olive Tree Brasserie, and independent craft beer bottle shop and taproom Beer Heroes or if you’re after fabulous cocktails then head to Kuckoo. At the bottom of Watergate Street you’ll find the institution that is BarLounge and jump over the traffic lights to find the your local pub in the city The Henry Potts.
There will be a troupe of circus performers at the event who will be heading up and down Watergate Street. They will also be leading free family-friendly mini workshops teaching circus skills to those present on the day.
The inaugural Watergate Street Festival will take place this Saturday, September 3. Activities and events will begin from 11 am onwards on the day.
