Chester to Honour British Music Icon in 2024

Next year, a special event taking place in Chester Cathedral will pay tribute to beloved recording artist David Bowie. Entitled simply “Bowie by Candlelight”, the upcoming event will feature an illuminated concert within the grade-listed walls of Chester’s revered landmark.

The celebration of the music of David Bowie by candlelight is back by popular demand in 2024 and is presented by Kinda Dusty Ltd.

The concert showcases the talents of “David Live” The David Bowie Tribute Show. It offers existing and new fans of the acclaimed singer-songwriter a chance to hear classic anthems from Bowie. In the stunning grade-listed interior of Chester cathedral lit by candles, guests can enjoy songs such as “Starman”, “Rebel Rebel”, “Let’s Dance” and “Life on Mars”, to name but a few.

David Live has earned the respect and recognition of critics and fans alike. The performance begins at the start of the late star’s career and takes audiences on a musical journey through the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and beyond, taking elements from Bowie’s renowned live performances.

The show has been designed to recreate the iconic appearance and sound of Bowie on stage. It references his look on the Isolar Tour of 1976 and the 1983 Serious Moonlight tour. The band featured on stage have been performing together for close to a decade.

Bowie by Candlelight will take place on Saturday January 20 at Chester Cathedral. The performance will start at 7.30pm, and the cathedral can be found on St Werburgh Street in Chester.
