In the last few years, we’ve all gone dog crazy, with nearly a quarter of the nation’s population now owning a furry four-legged friend. Considering how great they are, it’s only natural that we’d want to take our dogs everywhere with us, including to our favourite pubs and bars in Chester but with so many places to eat and drink, it’s hard to know where you and your canine companion will be welcome.

Commonhall is a home away from home for many, so the fact that it’s such a dog friendly place is no real surprise. However, the lengths they go to in order to welcome our four- legged friends is astonishing. With water bowls always available and treats on hand to all, Commonhall are true dog lovers. This is shown no more than their offering of free dinners for dogs on Sunday while their owners enjoy a roast!

Located in the historic Gamul House, The Brewery Tap is a straightforward pub with a beautifully traditional interior and locally sourced food and beer from their own Spitting Feathers farm. The Brewery Tap is the perfect place to unwind for food and drink with your dog after a long walk down the river.

Spread out over three floors, The Bear and Billet offers plenty of warm welcoming space for you and your four-legged friend to relax and enjoy the fine choice of ales and traditional pub food. Located just inside the historical Chester Walls, the building itself is also an emblem of history, dating back to 1664. It’s the perfect distance from both the meadows and the racecourse; two prime dog walking spots.

Located in the heart of the city centre just around the corner from the Roman Amphitheatre and the famous Eastgate Clock over two floors there is plenty of space for you and your dog to be comfortable and enjoy.

As well as being renowned for being one of the most haunted buildings in Chester the Kings Head on Lower Bridge Street is close to the River Dee and the heart of the city so a great spot for after a good walk along the river or when you and your furry companion are ambling around the city as long as your dog is comfortable with the spirits!
