Family and friends will gather, laugh, party, and feed off the buzz of Chester’s vibrant food and drink scene, Stilettoes will beat out a flamenco on the cobbles of Eastgate Street and party people will fill Northgate Street. The choice of venues and menus and craft beers and cocktails is laid out before us like a carvery for a King, a buffet for a billionaire. This weekend is finally about merriment and not about furlough!
Yes, we must be careful and sensible. Yes, we must let only our shadows brush against each other in the fading Summer light, but we can do that. We can observe the new social etiquette as we all embrace the delight of the once again entering the pubs and restaurants of Chester.
It is not about food and drink, it is about food and drink within the historic walls of this city, within Chester. It’s about the energy which crackles in a room where food is not cooked, it is crafted; where drink is not poured but instead the glass is infused with liquid and love; it is about embracing the human condition which thrives on the joie de vivre.
This Saturday is a tiny piece of super with an enormous wedge of fantastic. A calorie-loaded slice of superb, a pint glass of perfect, a bubbling maelstrom of marvellous, a cobble clipping, street singing, city satisfying, sector saving, people gathering, menu meandering, wine uncorking, barrel binging, jokes aplenty, joy abounding, love confirmed and love conceived, festival for us all.
